DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL

Dan Bungard

"I love the Hibiscus Coast; its people, its community, the schools and the sporting institutes. These have provided opportunities for me that I am truly appreciative of and now I feel it’s my responsibility to continue to provide those same opportunities to the next generation, our future generations.

It all starts with the fundamentals. Coast Basketball is the fundamental base for kids on the Hibiscus Coast to start their journey. It’s important, not only for the kids to learn basketball and become better athletes, but to grow into successful young adults and learn the important aspects of being part of a team. Continuing to build on these foundations, I believe, will provide pathways and opportunities to your child through the world of basketball.

The team and I look forward to working with your child to develop their talents further, provide a valuable growing environment and have some fun!"

Our Club Administrator is the go-to person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. From handling sign-ups and coordinating logistics to helping out with uniforms and answering all those little questions, they make sure things stay on track. Friendly, organised, and always ready to help, they're a big part of what keeps our club connected and running smoothly.

COAST COACHING TEAM

We have an incredible team of part-time and volunteer coaches—both male and female—who are deeply committed to the growth and development of every player. Across all levels of junior and senior basketball, our coaches bring not only their skills and experience but also a strong belief in the power of teamwork, effort, and continuous improvement. Whether teaching fundamentals or guiding advanced play, we foster a positive, inclusive environment where players are encouraged to grow, stay committed, and work together—on and off the court.

GENERAL MANAGER

Kale Emery

Our General Manager, currently serving in a voluntary capacity, plays a vital leadership role in driving the strategic direction of Coast Basketball. Working closely with the Board and key stakeholders, they help shape the vision, priorities, and long-term growth of the club. Their focus is on sustainability, community impact, and ensuring everything we do reflects our core values of Growth, Commitment, and Team.

SPORTS CHAPLAIN

Naomi Coombridge

Our Sports Chaplain is part of the team through Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand, offering caring support, a listening ear, and a steady presence for anyone in our basketball community—players, coaches, volunteers, and families. Their role is simply to be there for people, providing support without judgment, and being someone to turn to during both the highs and lows. We’re grateful to have this added layer of wellbeing as part of our club environment.

COAST SUB-COMMITTEES

Our club sub-committees are all about bringing passionate people together to help shape the future of Coast Basketball. Whether it’s driving fundraising efforts, supporting participation, or growing our junior programs, these groups play a key role in building a strong, inclusive, and sustainable club. We’re proud of the community spirit behind these committees and always welcome new ideas, energy, and helping hands as we continue to grow.

If you are interested in joining a sub-committee please contact our Club Administrator.
